Loyola School’s Christian Service Program assumes that serving the poor and improving the world is a critical part of personal development. Rather than just telling Loyola students to go out and help others, the School offers an integrated program that highlights the need to act and reflect on serving others. The ultimate intent of this effort is to address the needs of the disadvantaged and marginalized with a thoughtful and practical educational program committed to inculcating the habit of service during a Loyola student’s high school years and throughout his or her adult life.

Loyola School is honored and proud to name this program in memory of Wellington T. Mara of the Class of 1933. Wellington was a true “man for others” and throughout his life was committed to service and spreading God’s love. As a loyal alumnus, Gannon Award recipient, generous benefactor, devout Catholic, and outstanding leader, Wellington represented all of what Loyola School strives to accomplish in teaching our students to be open to growth, committed to doing justice, religious, loving, and dedicated to academic excellence.
