The Loyola School Library's purpose is to assist students in their academic work. To meet this goal, the library has over 3,000 volumes in all subject areas.
The Library uses an electronic card catalog system from Follett Software Company. The new system is available from all computers within Loyola School.
The reference collection includes general encyclopedias such as Encyclopedia Britannica and also specialized works in theology, science, art, music, and social studies. Some examples include the 19 volume New Catholic Encyclopedia, the 20 volume Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians, the 7 volume Encyclopedia of Popular Music, The Scribner British Writers and American Writers series, and the 6 volume Encyclopedia of the Renaissance. The circulating collection features books in all subject areas and includes a growing fiction collection.
The library subscribes to over 40 periodicals, including daily delivery of The New York Times.
Additional full text titles are available through the ProQuest Online Database.
In addition to books and periodicals, the library owns 240 films. The film collection is rapidly expanding.
