HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE AVAILABLE AT LOYOLA SCHOOL

Computer Lab and Library PCs

Loyola School has a Technology Center outfitted with DELL Latitude D630 laptops. Highlights of this model include Intel Core 2 Duo 2.40GHZ, 14.1" Wide Screen LCD, 2 GB DDR2-667 RAM, 80 GB 7200RPM hard drive, DVD Burner (double layer), built-in wireless (Wi-Fi and Bluetooth), 6 USB 2.0 ports, 1 firewire port, and a card reader. The machines print to a networked Hewlett Packard 4350N.

The library also has six DELL laptops, scanner and printer in the study niche available for student use.

All classrooms are equipped with SmartBoards, built in audio, DVD player, and VCR.

Network and Internet Capabilities

Loyola maintains 6 Windows 2003 R2 and 2 Red Hat Enterprise 5 servers to support the school's computer needs. All computers are connected to the Loyola's Ethernet network. Loyola's Ethernet network is made up of Fibre, Cat 5E and Cat 6 wiring providing a gigabit network (1000 Mbs) to each machine.

Each student has a personal network logon account and school provided e-mail account, accessible through any web browser (at home or in school). Students may store school related work on the student server which is also accessible inside the school and at home. Each student must sign the school's Technology Acceptable Use Policy before they are allowed to use the school's computer resources.

Loyola maintains a wide variety of instructional software. It also maintains active subscriptions to the latest productivity software such as:
