On Thursday, February 14, 2008, the Loyola School community celebrated the academic achievements of the first semester. At the Academic Convocation held in the Church of Saint Ignatius Loyola, 113 students who earned their place on the Headmaster's Honor Roll received recognition for the accomplishment. Loyola's National Merit Commended Students received certificates honoring their placement in the top 3.5% of high school students nationally. Six students were awarded Loyola's "Magis Award," recognizing the many ways in which they have done more to make Loyola a better place by contributing their time and energies, not only to their academics, but also to their extracurriculuar and service work. Mr. Jeffery Alpi ('90), Loyola's Director of Information Services, addressed the school community and encouraged them to further their pursuit of academic excellence by exploring the process through which information leads to understanding, which leads to wisdom. A link to the text of his remarks can be found on Loyola's home page. Following the ceremony, parents, students, and faculty attended a reception in Wallace Hall hosted by Loyola's Parents Association.
