On Friday, September 5, 2008, Loyola School celebrated the opening of the academic year with Mass of the Holy Spirit and the Academic Convocation. After worshipping together, the school community celebrated the academic successes of last year’s second semester, recognizing the students who achieved standing on the Headmaster’s Honor Roll. Science Department Chairperson Ms. Sunita Meyers was presented with the Ignatian Educator Award, honoring her example as an excellent teacher and role model. Members of the senior class received book awards from several colleges, and six seniors were presented with “The Magis Award” for their roles in striving to make Loyola a better place. Ms. Susan Baber delivered the convocation address and urged members of the Loyola community to recognize that their actions and choices have great significance in their own formation and have an impact on their school community, their family, and their world.
